IN-LINE trails
Even in summer, you can enjoy ice skating in Šumava...
Kvilda - Bučina
A more physically demanding route with a very high-quality surface begins on the southern edge of Kvilda. You will drive southeast towards Bučina following the green tourist sign. Almost the entire route leads through the forest, through the beautiful Šumava nature, up a long hill. To recharge your batteries, you can use several rest stops along the way. At the end, you will be rewarded with a view from which, in particularly favorable weather, you can see the Alps. We recommend this route for in-line only in the direction of Bučina, in the opposite direction you would mostly face a dangerous steep descent down a long, long hill with the need to brake. You can go back by Ecobus (only in the main tourist season) or walk. The entry of motor vehicles is prohibited on the entire route, with the exception of the Ekobus. We recommend shoes and a snack in your backpack.
Modrava - Březník
From Modrava in a southerly direction along the Nová Březnické path (red tourist sign), a route with variable surface quality leads through the valley of the Modravské potok. The predominant high-quality asphalt surface alternates with a low-quality, harder-to-ride surface, which is why this route is especially suitable for more skilled skaters. After two kilometers of driving, just before the first intersection "Modravský potok - bridge" (2 km), there is an almost impassable section of approx. 100 meters. You will go up a gentle hill almost the entire way, on the fifth kilometer you will skate a steeper section of about 300 meters to the second intersection "Na Ztracené" (5.5 km). Take extra care in this section on the way back. The route with several rest stops leads through a mostly forested landscape to the Luzen Valley to one of the most beautiful places in Šumava called Březník. Březnická hájenka stands above the valley, there is an information point in operation here during the summer tourist season, and you can refresh yourself here before the easy journey back. Motor vehicles are prohibited on the entire route. Despite the sometimes worse quality of the surface and the physical demands, conquering this route is a great experience. We recommend for in-line especially outside the main tourist season.
Modrava - Rybarna
From Modrava to the west, following the red tourist sign in the direction of Javoří pila, a very undemanding, only slightly undulating route leads through the valley of the Roklanské brook. You will drive through a picturesque valley, lined with dark forests and Šumava peatlands to the intersection Rybarna – Trijezerní słat, where the route continues to Poledník, but unfortunately its surface and elevation do not allow for in-line use. Motor vehicles are prohibited on the entire route. We recommend this route as suitable for children and beginners.
Nová Pec - Stožec
One of the most interesting and longest continuous routes suitable for in-line leads from Nová Peca, where the Lipno reservoir begins
in South Bohemia. You can drive through the slightly undulating terrain around the Vltava River and Mrtvý Luh in Zone I of the Šumava National Park
very high-quality surface through Černý Kříž to Stožec. The route leads through the beautiful forested nature of Šumava. The trail is flanked by a railroad track that you have to cross at several crossings along the way. For some, we recommend extreme caution. If you don't dare to do the whole route in both directions, you can get on the train in Nová Pec, Černý Kříž or Stožec and thus shorten your journey.
Hůrka - Horní Planá
From the Černá station in Pošumaví in the village of Hůrka, a cycle path with a quality surface leads around the main road leading to Horní Planá. In the village of Karlovy Dvory, you can skate up a steep hill (when traveling in the opposite direction - a very dangerous descent with the exit right next to the main road). From there, a pleasant journey through the forest awaits you. After crossing the main road, you will drive to Jenišov on a road with car traffic, on the way you also have to cross one railway crossing. From Jenišov to Horní Planá, you can skate along the car-free path around the railway line. You will be rewarded with a peaceful environment where you can see Lake Lipno among the trees.
The trail along Lipno
In the village of Lipno nad Vltavou from Marina, you can go on in-line skates towards Frymburk. On a high-quality, smooth surface, you will pass the Modřín Campground and continue along the path around the main road. The trail turns to Lake Lipno, so you will have the opportunity to skate in a beautiful environment around the shore of the largest water reservoir in the Czech Republic. In some sections, the path is protected by a wooden railing, where you can relax and enjoy the view of the water area and the landscape of Lipno. The route ends approximately halfway, but its extension to Frymburk is being prepared.
